DATA ANALYST

Overview

PlaySide Studios are seeking a kick-ass data analyst to join our team.  In this role we will focus on bringing together and making sense of our game data to develop and deliver insightful reports for our team of designers and developers.

 

If you enjoy working in a creative and fun environment, love finding sense in the data and have a strong interest in games then this is a great opportunity.

The role is split has three key areas -

  • Tracking - Working with programmers to make sure the events are firing correctly while ensuring the correct data points add to our data lake.

  • Reporting - use our internal cloud tools to create dashboards for management, internal teams and game specific requirements

  • Analysis - Using the data to help answer questions for our team, such as :

    • Are users finding the game too hard?

    • What price point should our in game items be at?

    • Do users get through the tutorial?

    • What is the most used item in the game?

Key Responsibilities

  • Create interactive dashboards with cloud based tools/PowerBI/Excel illustrating the ongoing story told by our data

  • Querying and manipulating data in SQL 

  • Provide insight to the business with the use of dashboards including offering suggestions according to the data.

  • Ensure data is correct and timely

  • Build partnerships within the company, sharing the tools and insights that improve our products

  • Deep-dive analysis from large datasets

  • Formulate hypotheses and run a variety of A/B tests to determine the best strategies to implement into our products.

  • Providing and analysing metrics on the performance of the games and marketing campaigns

  • Constantly improve the KPIs and metrics and set industry standards for F2P games

  • Analysing payment yields and monetisation flows, develop recommendations for revenue optimization

  • Implementation of analytics tools, best practices and new ideas

  • Develop analytic processes and tools

  • Deliver key insights and reporting to decision-making stakeholders

  • Testing of added events and analytics

  • Working to help guide an efficient testing workflow within the team

What You Bring To The Role

  • Understanding of mobile / console games and a passion for the industry as a whole

  • Ability to write and modify existing SQL queries 

  • Experience in stakeholder management

  • capacity to validate and correct data sources

  • Experience in prioritisation of work on multiple tasks simultaneously while managing competing priorities

  • Identify further opportunities to improve team and company processes

  • Capability to think on their feet and act quickly

  • Have a can-do with the ability to turn a negative into a positive, no problem is too great

Bonus Points!

  • Experience in data mapping

  • Foundational knowledge of metrics driven-decision making

  • Sound knowledge of mathematics and statistical techniques

  • Experience using Python/R/etc to perform ETL via API

  • Experience using Atlassian workflow management tools (JIRA, Confluence)

  • Experience with MySQL and PostgreSQL
